No more Thursday nite's blues

Thursday night's no longer a drab!

And that's all thanks to the TV programmer at Auntie's (which is a fond nickname for Australia's Public TV Channel: ABC). They've finally got back to their senses and decide to made Thursday night a comedy-filled shows on telly.

Well, at least for the 2 hour duration during the prime time slot anyway..

BBC's AbFab First we have the ever sensational Absolutely Fabulous (a.k.a. AbFab for short) shown at 8:30pm. I think it's the latest 5th season they are showing now, of which the first two episodes, we had seen long time ago (in December last year, actually) while we were on holidays in London.

I've always LOVE the antics of Edina and her partner's in crime Patsy. Always hilarious, never failed to make me laugh. Tonight's episode was the one when her daughter announcing her pregnancy to her African boyfriend.

The end bit (aired during the credit rolls) are so typical of AbFAb trademark, which just made me craving for MORE!

BBC's DeadRingers Next in line was the Deadringers comedy sketch show.

For any first-timers living outside UK, this sketch-show TV would probably seem a bit irrelevant, depending on where you live of course. Anyway, if you are patience enough, you'd be surprised by some of their dead-realistic impression of some of the internationally famous characters, be it politicians or just plain TV/movie stars. Among other worth looking out for are the one of Tony Blair, George Dubya Bush and the best of all time (damn realistic I tell 'ya!) our good ol' Ozzy Osbourne. Even some of the unsuspecting people who were taped along in the show were fooled by this Ozzy in his usual antics. LOL

This current season (out of god-knows-how many-season-aired so far) starts with their Christmas special (it's always Christmas in July here in Oz!), and it seems that the comedy crew are getting better and better. As a matter of fact, they are far more superior in terms of believability compare to other Australian produced comedy sketch TV shows, with similar concept like Channel 7's Big Bites.

ABC's At The Movies with David Stratton & Margaret Pomeranz The Movie Show used to run on the other TV channel, SBS for a while, until the show's anchor-person decided to ditch SBS -- for whatever reason -- earlier this year, and joined the ABC production.

The show now re-named At The Movies still maintains its original concept with the constant bantering between the show hosts: David Stratton and Margaret Pomeranz. So besides the new location, hardly anything else was new.

Frankly speaking, I wasn't really a big fan of either of them and the show. Personally, I found that their reviews are merely their personal attempt to out do each other's opinion, rather than giving a straight forward comment (either artistically or just plain laymen's movie opinion) relating to the movies discussed. However, for a comparison, I think the other ABC show, called Critical Mass (aired on Sunday afternoon and night - one current episode and the other a repeat, so check your TV schedule) do a better job in in reviewing stuffs (which include art, books and movies).

Anyway, THIS show is better to filled the current Thursday night slot rather than any other crappy shows ABC had thrown in before, so it IS fine by me. Besides, hubby actually LOVE the show, so I don't really have a choice there, do I?! Hehehe..

Mondo Thingo Logo To complete the set, ABC has decided to re-schedule Mondo Thingo into tonight's slot.

It doesn't really matter when they show THIS awesome programme, as long as they actually DO SHOW it!

I've always LOVE Mondo Thingo since the first time they aired in Australian TV. The quirky and funny host, Amanda Keller just made watching this particular show such a treat! And she's cute too! Haha.. don't worry, she's NOT converting me back to become straight! (Not that I've ever been a straight boy anyway! LOL)

ABC's Mondo Thingo with Amanda Keller (Apparently, Amanda was also the person who used to host the futuristic TV documentary Beyond 2000, which I grew up watching back in Kuala Lumpur -- Boy! Has it been THAT long time ago?!)

For the regular viewers, they'll probably noticed how the show keep changing and swapping the backdrop for this show. It could be the colour, or some furniture pieces shifted and move around, so basically every week, you see fresh show literally. And then of course, there's the interview, which is always FUN. Tonight's episode, had Amanda interviewing the sexy Puss In Boots actor, Antonio Banderas. *purrr..* I just can't wait to see she struts her stuff one day, when she'd finally able to live her dream and interview *drool* George Clooney (Sorry girl.. he's mine!) *Woof!*

Now that Thursday night is back in order, let's just hope that new seasons of other shows like ABC's Kath and Kim, BBC's Book Group and Coupling will be heading this way too!
